The executive chairman of Geregu Power PLC and business mogul, Femi Otedola, has visited the Dangote refinery as production starts in the new refinery.
He also congratulated his ‘bestie’ Aliko Dangote on his achievement in building the world’s largest single-train petroleum refinery.
The billionaire disclosed this on Wednesday, January 17, his official X page

He wrote: “Today I visited the 8th wonder of the world: the Dangote Oil Refinery, which just started production.

“Congratulations to my bestie @AlikoDangote on this tremendous feat! Guinness Book of Records for the world’s largest single-train petroleum refinery in the world. History is made. F.Ote”

What does this imply? Will fuel cost be lower now? Will there now be more frequent light ? Will Dangote be kind to the common man and charge Nigerians a low price to help in these economically challenging times? Share your thoughts in the comments section below. Register or login to do so

The top 3 largest churches in the country based on various factors such as attendance, seating capacity, influence, and founders’ reputations are:
  1. The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG):
  2. Salvation Ministries:
    • Established by Pastor David Ibiyeomie in 1997.
    • The main headquarters is located in Port Harcourt.
    • The church’s Hand of God Auditorium is the largest church auditorium in Nigeria, with a capacity for 120,000 people.
  3. Dunamis International Gospel Center:

Below shows a breakdown of the financial details for the top three churches in Nigeria and their estimated earnings in Nigerian Naira:
  1. The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG):
  2. Salvation Ministries:
  3. Dunamis International Gospel Center:
How much are the pastors paid?

The allocation of funds for pastors’ salaries in churches can vary significantly based on the specific denomination, church size, and financial practices. While I don’t have precise data for each of the mentioned churches, I can provide some general insights:
  1. The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG):
    • RCCG is a large denomination with numerous branches worldwide.
    • Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer, receives a salary, but the exact amount is not publicly disclosed.
    • Additionally, RCCG has a hierarchical structure, and pastors at various levels receive compensation based on their roles and responsibilities.
  2. Salvation Ministries:
    • Pastor David Ibiyeomie, the founder of Salvation Ministries, is known for his charismatic preaching and influence.
    • Like RCCG, the specific details of his salary are not widely available.
    • However, as the head pastor of a large congregation, he likely receives a substantial salary.
  3. Dunamis International Gospel Center:
    • Dr. Paul Enenche, the founder and senior pastor of Dunamis, leads a significant ministry.
    • His salary would depend on the church’s financial capacity and organizational structure.
    • As with other churches, the exact figures are not publicly disclosed.
In many cases, pastors receive a combination of salary, housing allowances, and other benefits. Some churches also provide additional perks such as health insurance, retirement plans, and educational support for pastors and their families.

It’s essential to recognize that pastors play a vital role in spiritual leadership, counseling, and community service. While some receive substantial compensation, others serve sacrificially. Transparency and accountability in financial matters are crucial to maintain trust within congregations.

How is the rest of the church  money spent?

The financial resources accumulated by these churches serve various purposes, and while I don’t have specific details about each church’s allocation, here are some common ways in which religious organizations utilize their funds:
  1. Ministry Operations and Maintenance:
    • A significant portion of the funds goes toward maintaining church facilities, paying staff salaries, and covering day-to-day operational expenses.
    • This includes costs related to worship services, pastoral care, administrative staff, and facility upkeep.
  2. Community Outreach and Social Services:
    • Many churches engage in community development and social welfare programs.
    • Funds are used for initiatives such as feeding the hungry, providing medical assistance, supporting orphanages, and offering educational programs.
    • Some churches establish schools, vocational training centers, and hospitals to serve their communities.
  3. Missionary Work and Evangelism:
    • Churches allocate resources to spread their faith and support missionary activities.
    • This involves sending missionaries to remote areas, supporting evangelistic campaigns, and translating religious texts into local languages.
  4. Charitable Giving and Relief Efforts:
    • Churches often contribute to disaster relief efforts, both locally and globally.
    • Donations may be directed toward disaster-stricken regions, refugees, and humanitarian causes.
  5. Investments and Expansion:
    • Some churches invest in income-generating ventures to sustain their operations.
    • Funds may be used to acquire land, build new churches, or expand existing facilities.
  6. Educational Institutions:
    • Churches with affiliated schools, colleges, or seminaries allocate funds to support education.
    • Scholarships, infrastructure development, and faculty salaries are part of this allocation.
  7. Media and Communication:
    • Churches use funds to produce religious content, including radio broadcasts, television programs, and online resources.
    • These platforms help disseminate teachings and reach a wider audience.
  8. Cultural and Artistic Endeavors:
    • Some churches invest in music, arts, and cultural events.
    • Funds may support choirs, orchestras, theater productions, and other creative expressions.
  9. Financial Reserves and Savings:
    • Responsible churches maintain reserves for emergencies, future projects, and unforeseen needs.
  10. Transparency and Accountability:
    • Churches are expected to be transparent about their financial activities.
    • Regular financial reports and audits ensure accountability to their members and donors.
Remember that each church’s financial decisions are influenced by its specific beliefs, leadership, and organizational structure. While some churches prioritize community service, others may focus more on internal growth and evangelism.

Please note that these figures are approximate and based on available data. The actual financial details may vary, but these churches play significant roles in the spiritual and social lives of millions of Nigerians.

David Adeleke, widely known as one of Nigeria's, indeed Africa's, most famous celebrities, has navigated through fame
 amidst various scandals and controversies.

Known affectionately as Davido, the pop star has had his share of disagreements with Sophia Momodu, who is the mother of his eldest child, Imade.

Recently, the Nigerian populace was taken aback when, earlier this week, renowned singer Tiwa Savage filed a petition. She alleged that Davido was targeting her due to her close relationship with Sophia.

Following this, Sophia, represented by Punuka Attorneys and Solicitors, issued a legal warning to the artist behind 'Feel.' This action was in response to alleged threats to her safety, as well as accusations of cyberbullying and harassment.

Sophia Momodu sent a "cease and desist" letter to Davido, accusing him of making defamatory statements and promoting negative articles about her. She noted that despite previous warnings, the singer continued to harm her reputation online.

The history of Davido and Sophia's relationship has been marked by various disputes. In January 2016, when their daughter Imade was just seven months old, Sophia and her uncle, media figure Dele Momodu, accused Davido and his family of trying to illegally take Imade to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, without Sophia’s consent.

This accusation led to a public scandal, after which Imade was returned to her mother. Davido, at the time, alleged that Sophia was making excessive financial demands from him.

Davido publicly criticized Sophia’s parenting, accusing her of neglecting Imade for a nightlife filled with clubbing and substance abuse, neglecting Imade in the process. He claimed that Imade's health issues were due to exposure to second-hand marijuana smoke and tainted breast milk.

After this episode, Davido and Sophia appeared to reconcile for a while. However, in 2020, this calm was disrupted. Reports surfaced that Davido took Sophia on a trip to Ghana, which he denied on Instagram, explaining that he only shared a flight with her and Imade due to a coinciding event in Ghana. He expressed concern about the impact of these rumors on his then-fiancée, Chioma.

In response, Sophia insisted she didn't ask for a lift. On Davido's 30th birthday in November 2022, Sophia faced criticism for sharing a birthday letter from Imade, which included a tribute to Davido’s late son, Ifeanyi.

In June 2023, Sophia claimed Davido was neglecting his fatherly duties, considering a change of Imade’s last name since she felt she was fulfilling both parental roles.

A month prior, Sophia was criticized online for allegedly preventing Davido from seeing Imade, linked to his refusal to meet certain demands. Blogger Tunde Ednut highlighted the emotional toll on both Davido and Imade, mentioning Sophia’s demand for two years of unpaid nanny fees, amounting to around $8,000 per month, to be paid through her lawyers. Ednut urged a speedy resolution for the sake of the child involved.

Naira Exchange Rate Issues: Ajadi Raises Alarm, Urges Government Intervention for Industry Stability

The alarming decline in the Naira's value, currently trading around N1,300 to the Dollar, has raised serious concerns among key players in the economy, with Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo joining the widespread calls for action. Ajadi, a prominent figure in the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria and the New Nigeria People’s Party's gubernatorial candidate for Ogun State, has highlighted the urgent need for the Federal Government to address the currency's fall.

As the CEO of Bullion Go-Neat Global Limited, Ajadi's extensive expertise and insight have led him to express grave worries about the Naira's depreciation's far-reaching effects on different economic sectors. He describes this situation as a potential source of national shame and urges the government to act quickly to mitigate the suffering of the populace.

Ajadi points out that the Naira's poor performance has triggered a spike in prices, severely diminishing the average citizen's buying power. This inflationary trend is placing immense financial burdens on Nigerians. For entrepreneurs, maintaining production levels is increasingly difficult, forcing them to transfer these heightened costs to their customers.

Furthermore, Ajadi stresses the importance of the Federal Government bolstering the productive areas of the economy, aiming to cut down on excessive reliance on imports. He argues that a focused, cooperative strategy is essential to tackle the core issues behind the exchange rate dilemma. Proposing solutions, he suggests enhancing basic infrastructure and providing incentives for key industry players to reduce production expenses and improve income levels.
