Hi everyone,
I’m currently in my second year as a Data Engineer at a consulting firm, working primarily on platforms focused on Data Management, Data Quality, and Data Governance. In my role as both a Data Engineer and Product Specialist, I’m mainly responsible for implementing data quality controls and managing ETL processes — rather than designing the frameworks myself. Most of the clients I work with are in the banking and financial services industry.
My plan is to stay in this role for the next three years before transitioning into either a Product Manager or Data Governance Manager position.
To further build my expertise and support this career path, I’m considering pursuing the CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) certification, aiming for the Professional level with specializations in Data Governance and Data Quality.
My question is regarding the certification costs — are the specialization exams included in the main CDMP exam fee, or do they require additional payment?
I would also appreciate any career advice based on my current trajectory. Although I have just seven months of experience, I’m highly motivated and committed to pursuing a long-term goal of becoming a Chief Data Officer within the next 10–15 years.
TL;DR: First-year Data Engineer aiming for CDMP Professional level with Data Governance & Data Quality specializations. Unsure if specialization exam fees are separate. Looking for career and certification advice with the long-term goal of becoming a Chief Data Officer.
