Trying to decide between a private seller and a dealer, does an inspection even matter both ways?

I keep going back and forth on this and figured I would just ask here. I am looking at two cars right now, one from a private seller in Khalifa City and one from a dealer near MBZ City, and everyone keeps telling me different things about which is safer. The dealer car comes with some kind of warranty but the price is higher, while the private one is cheaper and the owner has all the service records from Al Futtaim. My cousin reckons dealers are more likely to hide problems because they know how to make things look good, which sounds backwards to me but who knows. I was thinking of just getting a certified pre-purchase car check near MBZ City done on whichever one I shortlist, so at least I have something objective to compare instead of relying on gut feeling. Anyone been in this situation, did the inspection change your mind about going private versus dealer? I am leaning private because of the price gap but the warranty thing keeps pulling me back.
